BREAKING: Buhari reduces cost of JAMB, NECO forms


President Muhammadu Buhari has reduced the cost of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board forms from 5,000 to N3,000 - The president also reduced the cost of National Examination Council forms from N11,350 to N9,850 - According to the media aide to the president, Bashir Ahmad, the reduction will take effect from January 2019 Bashir Ahmad, the media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that the president has approved a reduction in the cost of forms for final year secondary school and post-secondary school examinations. Legit.ng gathers that Ahmad disclosed that the cost of Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms has been reduced from N5,000 to N3,500 while the cost of National Examination Council (NECO) forms was reduced from N11,350 to N9,850. 

The presidential aide, who made the revelation on his official Twitter page, said the reduction would take effect from January 2019. See tweet below: According to the special assistant to President Buhari on digital media, Tolu Ogunlesi, the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, made the announcement at the federal executive council meeting. 

He tweeted: "Minister of Education Adamu Adamu announced this just now at today’s #FECBrief. He said President @MBuhari directed the Ministry to look into the reduction following the significant improvement in revenues being remitted to the Treasury by the Education Agencies."

 Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Professor Is-haq Oloyede, the registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Tuesday, November 27, said that a sustained war against corruption could bring about radical economic growth through investment. Oloyede expressed surprise that JAMB could generate as much as N9 billion for the federal government, an indication of how far the nation could go, if corruption is eradicated, The Nation reports. 

He said this during the delivery of the 10th convocation lecture of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun state. Oloyede remarked that when Kemi Adeosun, the former finance minister, called on him to generate N200 million or N300 million, he said he was at first frightened because of the past record of JAMB in terms of remittance.
